About Our Electric Mountain Bikes (E-MTB)
A standard road bike can only take you so far when it comes to off-road riding. With an e-mountain bike, you're getting a stronger frame and high-quality suspension systems that smooth out uneven terrain. You can enjoy a more balanced and comfortable ride on even the most intense trails. Charging times and battery life will vary depending on the model and the battery. Always read and follow the instructions included with your purchase. Usually, it will take around 3 to 6 hours to reach a full charge. Once fully charged, you'll be looking at a range between 40km to 100km, but this will be influenced by the terrain, total load weight and style of riding.

What is an electric mountain bike?
Electric mountain bikes are motor-powered bikes with all the features you'd expect from a normal mountain bike. With pedal-assist, you'll get an extra push when tackling long or difficult trails. Click here to read more about the difference between the two.
-
How fast do electric mountain bikes go?
Most states and territories in Australia have maximum limits for pedal-assist on e-bikes, usually around 25km/h. You can still technically go faster than this, but you won't be assisted by the motor past that point.
-
Are electric mountain bikes legal in Australia?
Electric mountain bikes are legal in Australia, provided they follow relevant regulations regarding motor output and pedal-assist. Unless specified as an off-road bike, Progear e-MTBs are designed and built to Australian road rules. Always check local regulations in your state or territory before using your bike.
-
How far can I ride an electric mountain bike on one charge?
You can expect an average charge to last anywhere between 40km-100km. This will depend heavily on the type of riding you'll be doing, including how much weight your carrying, the terrain you're riding on and how well-maintained your bike is.
